Black Beans
With the fall of the bean crop in the domestic market, Brazil has increased imports of the product from Argentina. The expectation of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Services is that, with the exemption of import duty, the volumes increase further in the coming months.
In the first half, the black bean buying from Argentina increased by 146.1% compared to the same period last year, rising from 26,000 tons to 64,000. Argentines, because they are part of Mercosur, no longer paying that rate. "We have noticed an increase in bean imports. What should appear from now is beans from other sources. Argentina already has increased, not from other sources," explained the director of the Department of Statistics and export support, Herlon Brandão.
The government zeroed the bean import tax to encourage the purchase of products from other countries and reduce the price on supermarket shelves.
